GENERATION 1

DEACON WILLIAM PECK
Born 1606 in London, Middlesex. England; 
Died 14 Oct 1694 in New Haven, Connecticut
From Genealogical Guide to the Early Settlers of America p. 409:
Peck, William, New Haven, a merchant from London, born 1601; with wife, Eliz and son Jeremiah came probably in the HECTOR as companion with Govs. Eaton and Hopkins, Rev. John Davenport, and the son of the Earl of Marlborough; arrived at Boston 26 June, 1637; was one of the first compact for New Hampshire in June, 1639; an original proprietor; freeman 1640, deacon from 1659 to his death; had John; Joseph baptized 1641; and Elizabeth, 1643.  His wife died on a visit to her son at Lynne and he married Sarah, widow of William Holt, and died 1694.  His grave stone can still be seen in the cemetery;  He died aged 90.  The only daughter, his youngest child, married 1661 Samuel Andres.  In his will, 1689, made at New Hampshire, the second wife and his four children are mentioned, but no more.

Daughter of Robert Kitchell (1601 - 1672) and Margaret Sheaffe (1598 - 1682);   Born Oct 1637 in Greenwich, New Haven, CT;  Died 1711 in Waterbury, New Haven, CT
From Genealogical Guide to Early Settlers in America by Whittemore, p. 408-9:  Peck, Jeremiah... died June, 1699, aged 76.  His children were Samuel, born 1659, Ruth, at New Haven 1661; Caleb at Saybrook 1663; Ann at Saybrook, 1665; Jeremiah at Newark 1667; and Joshua at Newark 1673.  His widow died 1711.  Ruth married 1681 Jonathan Atwater; and Ann married 1696; Thomas Stanley of Farmington, and Joshua died 1736

June 1, 1681, Ruth, daughter of Rev. Jeremiah Peck.  She d. June 3, 1727.  Her will was probated Oct 3, 1741.  The Rev. Jeremiah Peck, father of Ruth, was a son of William Peck, Deacon, one of the original settlers of New Haven, also a signer of the "Fundamental Agreement of Quinnipack".  He was born in England about 1623.  In 1656 he kept a school in Guilford, Conn. where he remained until 1660.  That year he was established, according to an act of the court, in the Hopkins Collegiate Grammer School in New Haven, and there "taught the language of science"  In 1661 he was a minister at Saybrook.  In 1677, unwilling to abide by the union of the New Haven Colony with the "lax and broader principated" Colony of Connecticut, he, with a few others, departed for Newark, New Jersey, to form a colony more congenial to their views.  He there resided in 1674. He then removed to Elizabethtown, NJ, thence to Greenwich, CT, where he was minister in 1689; thence to Waterbury, CT, where he was first minister and there died June 7, 1699, aged 76.  He married Nov. 12, 1656, Joanna Ketchel/Kitchell, daughter of Robert Ketchel and Margaret Schaeffe (dau. of Richard Sheaffe 1558/9 - 14 Sep 1625 & Margaret Roberts  1564 - 8 Feb 1621/2; gr. daughter of Thomas Sheaffe 1532 - 1604 and Mary Harmon 1536 - 1609 of Cranbrook, Kent, England).
From AMERICAN MARRIAGES BEFORE 1699:  Kitchell, Hannah married Peck, Rev. Jeremiah 12 Nov 1656, Guilford, Conn.
